When Kane is playing for the Oilers they are an elite team. Its not cheerleading. Its statistics. It sucks - He's a horrible human, and shouldn't be in the NHL. But when he is one the ice for them they are a top 7 team point % in the NHL
Without Kane they are a 90 pt team. With him they are a 110 point team.
But I guess basic math makes someone a cheerleader now.

That is not "basic math". It's actually statistics or "predictive match".
And those both require a certain amount of "interpretation". Because stats are not linear. Basic math is.
