I think there's some subtlety to Bella's acting that is being missed. I feel like some are looking for adult immersion and emotions in a broken down society.

This isn't that. She's 14 and hasn't matured emotionally yet AND doesn't understand most of the previous society (Pedro having to explain what a seat belt is being a good example) I think she's done a fantastic job of emulating a child brought into a cold, broken world. The facial expressions that aren't full of "OMMGGGG this is such an emotional moment based on my 35 years of growing!!!!!" fits a 14 year old kid learning how to operate in this world, while not having fully developed empathy yet.
