I don't see the cap as a huge problem. 2/3rds of the season will have gone by, so a 50% retention would give him a cap hit of about $1.73M.

I was looking at the possibilities for fun and lots of teams that Kane would want to go to don't even have that room, or players they can easily move to create it. Remember he has complete veto power over destination.
