Everyone I have talked to about Huberdeau who actually seen him play for the Panthers and have seen him play now, say that this is a completely different player that is trying to change his game. It has nothing to do with the effort, Huberdeau is an amazing competitor and I have no doubt that he will be back to a PPG player next season.
Did Huberdeau coast in Florida sometimes? Yes absolutely, he still got the points and nobody really cared how he played. Here he is clearly trying and not getting the points for the first time in his career, imaging how frustrating and demoralizing that is, hockey is a confidence sport, anyone who has played it at a high enough level knows that.

I don't think Sutter is telling him to stand around, not carry the puck, and dish it off the second he gets challenged. His individual effort have been noticeably absent for the most part this season.
