Since 2000-01 the Flames have made the playoffs 10 times. This is not far off the best teams in this stretch. Boston and Pittsburgh have made it 16 times.
The Flames have had 3 100-point regular season. This puts them with 7 times making the playoffs but failing to get 100 points. I'm not done going through every team, but they lead so far (half done) of teams that made the playoffs but failed to get 100 points. Just squeaking in every year.
The Flames are near the bottom in playoff series wins. Tied with a team like Buffalo with 5 and behind the Oilers who have 6.
I like watching playoff hockey but the excitement of making the 2nd round or later makes the season so much more memorable. 5 playoff series wins and 3 in 04 just isn't good enough for a 20+ year stretch. The 90's weren't exactly fun to watch either.
