I'll preface this by saying I am not posting this as an excuse for the Flames struggles to build a contender, but man is geography frustrating.
The Rangers announced a rebuild a few years ago and after that they received Trouba, Panarin and Fox - an elite forward, elite D-man and really great D-man, due to simply playing in New York City. I mean most teams could tank for 6 years and not receive the level of talent that basically walked through their front door and said "Hey, can I play for you guys?".
