Milano had a pretty bad preseason and probably didn't earn a contract based on his performance.
But the issue is, he
did earn a contract based on his performance in 2021–22, which matters a heck of a lot more than some exhibition games. Particularly when the Flames made an inexplicable $2.6 million commitment to a substantially worse player in Kevin Rooney, who is now their AHL third-line centre.
