According to the article, it’s more attributable to blackouts (last year there were none) and adding a lot more games, which brings down the average. Then there are some additional factors, but rest assured, the quality of the Calgary Flames is of no significance to US National TV ratings (as much as some “fans” want to use it as an excuse to complain about them).
