I think you can basically recognize when your opponent is going to have to hit a tweener, and the majority of those tend to be lobs. So even if you're in position to take a step forward and put the ball away if it doesn't end up going high, you should absolutely be anticipating a lob and ready to get back to it the moment you see the ball come off the racket.
