You can argue that this is what led to the Flames delusional/mediocre endeavors from 2008 to 2014.
But present-day Sorokin (92.3% in a league with an average around 90.6%) is a lot better than post 2007 Kiprusoff (91.0% in a league with an average of around 91.3%).

Yeah but that just goes to show how bad the team is when their goaltender is all-world and they are a .500 team. They are on the exact same pace as last season but at least last season they had the excuse of starting the season on that brutal road trip. It certainly looks like Trotz wasn't the issue and the team just isn't that good.
