In fairness, the NDP and LPC could do a lot better too. Neither Singh nor Trudeau strike me as remotely smart enough to be in the positions they're in and I'm absolutely certain that there are more qualified and capable people in those parties who would be solid PM material, but internal politics and assumptions about marketability win the day there. The CPC certainly falls victim to the former but just doesn't seem to give a damn about the marketability piece, except as it pertains to the fringiest of its own voters.
