Anyone here had the panels installed on a concrete tile roof? If yes, please share the experience and photos, if possible.
Even though the economic feasibility of solar installation in Calgary is still non-existent (i.e. there is no way to justify the investment with the expected financial returns), I am slowly starting to look at it from a different angle: it could be a better alternative electrical backup system for a house than any residential standby generators available on the market. A 24kW Generac will cost about $12,000-$15,000 after installation plus annual maintenance and the risk of natural gas supply interruption. Solar system will cost a bit more but will provide offsets via refunds from the grid. Although, it also has capacity risk in winter months, of course…
