Alcohol is a depressant.
You're trading the positive feeling of your buzz for an overall negative effect on your mental health, mood, stress & anxiety.
I bet the people who never drink actually have less "mental pain"; or at least they're not adding to it with alcohol.
I'm in no way preaching to never drink; but it's important to understand what's actually happening when drinking.
You're not battling away mental pain with alcohol; you are likely making your issues much worse.
