Roloff is one of 4 keepers signed to Koeln’s first team at the moment. There’s a possibility of one of their top 2 keepers moving on so I think his return to Koeln is likely with that in mind. I would put him 4th in the pecking order at the moment so a return to Koeln’s reserve team, which is largely a U-23 team, or a loan might be in the cards.
Roloff came to Cavalry from Koeln’s U-23s which he had come through. He’s stated in an interview with German media that he signed with Cavalry for his first shot at first team, professional football. I think he took a calculated risk with Carducci recovering from cancer treatment at the time. I think Cavalry had to move fast when news of Carducci’s diagnosis came out, hence signing an international.
As for Koeln, they’ve been a bit of a yo-yo team the last couple decades but have had strong showings the past 2-3 seasons. They’re one of Germany’s most traditional and well supported clubs. It will be interesting to see where Roloff goes from here. It was tough to judge him based on his limited appearances. Cavalry didn’t start the season well when he was the starter so I found it tough to assess his performances.
