Look at some of the older players who are playing solid hockey right now; Huby and Weegar are still so very new to the team and it will take time to realize their true value but as it sits we’re in the thick of a playoff race with much of our top end talent not even coming close to playing to their peak abilities. Not worried in the slightest with the new additions and I have full confidence that we’ll see positive growth from them over the next few seasons and even through the rest of this year.

The only guy I’d consider trading atm would be Markstrom because I feel Wolf has very little left to prove at the AHL level and Vladar has taken mega strides but it would have to be a perfect deal that makes sense as Marky is still very well liked in the room and generally speaking Goalies are streaky players.

Stay the course this year; don’t trade the first for a rental and I’m happy with the direction the Flames are headed in despite feeling as low as I’ve felt as a fan of this team this past July. It’s actually quite remarkable and I think the sky is the limit with this roster that is producing more balanced scoring across the lineup; once the big guns start to heat up look out.
You make some very good points that I agree with. What concerns me though is the ceiling with Weegar and Hubey once they are at there best with the team. How much of an impact can they have. Even people that knew Hubey in Florida said he was not a guy to carry the team or was a big play driver. A player that is good at transitioning the puck. That is what this team needs and that is a huge cap hit for just a guy that puts up assists.I like Weegar but he makes to many mistakes in his own end and offensively does some good things but I feel his offensive numbers were inflated being in Florida. The big question is our top players good enough?
