Tkachuk's value wasn't as great an many on hear thought he got strictly based on the trade.
The Flames got one year of two very good players who were approaching the normal aging curve who required huge contracts to stay.
There is a reason why the Flames got a good prospect and a first round pick too.
But looking at Meier more closely, he's a bit older than Tkachuk was, and while his production has been very good, but not at Tkachuk's level.
So his trade value would be less, but still quite high. It would likely equate to a first round pick an excellent prospect and some more. Calgary doesn't have the cap space to fit him in next year, so I doubt he a realistic target.
