At uncontrolled intersections or along streets where a crosswalk is not at an intersection. I don't remember exactly where I have seen these but it is somewhere in high pedestrian traffic areas (Prince's Island or East Village or somewhere near the various pathways.) I think the crossing signal at the UofC between Lot 10 and the walkway to the Oval is automatic from my experience and recollection.
