I think some of this was to be expected with the retirement of some historically great quarterbacks over the last 5 years or so and in some ways it mirrors the CFL in that the quality of the games suffered after the retirement of guys like Ray, Reilly, Burris, and Bo's decline. Football is QB driven and it's a matter of cycles as there are some good QB's in the NFL but teams have got so desperate at the draft that there are too many 1st round reaches for QB's that aren't fully developed and teams are rushing them. Fields for example is likely not going to pan out because he's not been afforded an opportunity to refine his passing skills. Anthony Richardson for example is making the mistake of declaring a year early and make no mistake an NFL team will pick him in the 1st round and he's nowhere near ready to become an NFL QB. He's likely destined for 1st round QB bust status because of these circumstances but it wont stop a team from drafting him and fast tracking him into a starting position.
