3 players in the top 10 of scoring for U-25 players in the AHL, but no talent there.
Phillips: 1st - 40 points in 27 games
Pelletier: 6th - 34 points in 31 games
Zary: 7th - 34 points in 33 games
IMO with those three and Coronato Flames fans should be excited about adding young forward talent to our core but the coach refuses to take a bit of risk to have them develop and maybe make the odd mistake at the NHL level.
Call it what it is. Flames dont have talented players that are also over 6'2", so Sutter has no space for them over guys like Zohorna, Duehr, Ritchie, or Lucic.
Look at the game against Chicago. Lukas Reichel who is 1.13 PPG in the AHL had a goal and two assists in the Hawks win. Pelletier who is 1.1 PPG in the AHL was sitting in the press box.
At this point if Coronato refused to sign here i wouldnt blame him for a second.

I think when people complain about the talent in our prospect pool, it's not so much that there aren't some great looking guys that should be pretty close to breaking through, but rather that we don't have any game changing talent.
I'm not really sure it's a fair complaint because
a) those types of prospects are few and far between
b) you don't really know what you have until some of these guys get some serious looks with the big team.
