I expect when Draisaitl leaves, the Oilers in desperation will offer McDavid an obscene contract that no team will match. That would actually make sense when you consider that having McDavid and losing has probably been better for the Oilers exposure and bottom line than winning would with a less star studded team. Oilers fans crave star players that break scoring records more than they crave a winning team and hope alone has sold extremely well in Northern Alberta over the last decade.
