I still think it was a puzzling move for them...they had the best team in the league, I would have taken a few shots with that. Now they are a bubble team with no high draft picks. How are they getting back to the top of the league? I don't think Tkachuk gets much better than this.

No way Huby would be putting up those numbers under Maurice. He probably would be underperforming like all the other former Panthers. That's why it's been even more impressive what Tkachuk has done so far, he hasn't gotten much help.
I personally would not have wanted to give eight year deals to Huberdeau and Weegar, even when they were still with the Panthers. Also Tampa has owned them for years now so they needed a shake up. Hiring Maurice was the real mistake imo.
