Agreed. I'll always love Payton, no way Saints have a ring without him. But I'm a little salty at him mortgaging the future so badly, then bailing before he even had the next QB in place. Cam Jordan still seems a little hurt, can tell it caught him off-guard and he feels lied to. He made another comment about it the other day at year end interviews.
I had no idea Payton had such a wandering eye, lots of stories coming out about how close he was to leaving several times since 2015, only to stay because Brees kept coming back. He comes from the Parcells coaching tree, sounds like he wants to do the Parcells/Sutter/Torts approach and just bounce around saving programs then jetting in 2-3 years when the locker room is sick of him.
