Does a bunch of the water come from piles of snow on the edge of the sidewalk? (ie: A melting stream)
I shovel about half a foot inwards for those areas using a spreader shovel. Not shovel to the grass, I leave a few inches of snow. But then when snow and ice melt, the lawn doesn't saturate as easy and then drain out onto the sidewalk to turn into ice.
