Just finished the game after avoiding the score all night.
Frustrating end to what was once a game the Flames had in full control. Second goal was obviously all Markstrom and can’t happen. Third goal was soft too and he should have been pulled then. He did get back into it after settling down a bit.
Toffoli and Weegar hitting the post at 3-1 was a kick in the gut. I don’t see a way back for STL if one of those goes in.
This team and overtime…..my goodness.
It’s really not indicative of some ever growing issue that will haunt this team come April. It’s 3 on 3. You kinda have to brush it off.
Flames are in a playoff spot tonight, they’ll be in one tomorrow and before they play on Thursday.
I don’t think people here appreciate just how tough it is to make the playoffs these days. The margin for error is razor thin and it’s a true marathon. Even the best teams in the west(Dallas/Vegas) aren’t some unbeatable juggernaut that are just flying right now.
We’re 9 points out of first in the conference having lost a crap ton of 3 on 3 hockey. 9 points is not 20.
The separation between the Flames and the top dogs in the west is nowhere as big as some would have you believe. Flames have dug too deep a hole to make a legit shot at landing a divison spot but to say they haven’t played better 5 on 5 since the dark days of November is just false. They’re doing a lot of good things lately.
Having some of those damn posts go in would be nice.
