He was barely an NHL player and looked ready to flame out, heck on a team with any sort of depth he would've been out of the league already -- most of us were annoyed they gave him a one way contract over $1M. maybe it's because of his size. Perhaps last year he finally mentally grew into his huge frame? Mind and body were finally on the same page? I don't know if I'm explaining what I mean, but regardless it's fun to watch.

You're right though, usually you can see something in a young player to indicate they had potential to be an all-star. This is pretty nuts.
