The Bills did have control, but they were playing a team who is arguably better than them, on the road. To assume they absolutely win is fairly laughable, and given the start to the game they were more likely to lose that game then win if it was played to conclusion. That the Chiefs lost to both is not particularly relevant when, had the Bills lost, both those teams would have had one more loss than the Chiefs. Seeding is not determined by who beat who unless they are tied, which they would not have been. All three teams ended up losing homefield opportunities, so they all get hosed to varying degrees.

But when you look at the current situation, the Bills worst case with a win Sunday is #2 seed, home game in round two against the team who could have beaten them and forced them into a road game in that round, and neutral site game that will primarily be made up their fans. All things considered they absolutely came out the best from this, the Chiefs second, and the Bengals easily got the short end here.
