The one thing that makes me believe he deserves an extension (a two-year extension) is how he recovered from the Gaudreau/Tkachuk situation. Even though it was self-inflicted he managed to come away with some good assets and turned them into a new core for the club. I think he has earned an opportunity to see what comes of that core. With the massive number of contracts ending in short order I think his tenure should be tied to those. Get over the hump or he goes when all those contracts are up. Will also coincide with the system being completely hollowed out from lack of picks, so two more years for success or he's gone.

This is the second time you have said this. Self-inflicted mistake by Treliving. You do understand how this works right? Johnny lied and took him to the last second, Tkachuk came out last second and said he doesn't want to sign.
Both those players said they would sign long term deals going years back, and chose not to sign with us. He cannot force players to sign. Just like the guy in the boo Johnny thread said we should have just signed him in the 2021 off-season. You can't just sign him, this is not NHL23, the players can choose not to sign with us.
Its just like with Jack Eichel, well we should have traded for him. Buffalo has to agree to the trade. Treliving can't force teams and players to do things he wants.
