Treliving has made many mistakes in his time with the Flames, but he's also had some really big wins. I think you have to look at the overall health of the organization and make the call based on that. Treliving has burned through draft picks which leaves the team in a tough spot. The one thing that makes me believe he deserves an extension (a two-year extension) is how he recovered from the Gaudreau/Tkachuk situation. Even though it was self-inflicted he managed to come away with some good assets and turned them into a new core for the club. I think he has earned an opportunity to see what comes of that core. With the massive number of contracts ending in short order I think his tenure should be tied to those. Get over the hump or he goes when all those contracts are up. Will also coincide with the system being completely hollowed out from lack of picks, so two more years for success or he's gone.
