Arizona? To play in front of 5000 people on similar loser team?
Chicago? Have to send Kane back I guess? But are you really trading Bedard for 3 years of McDavid in a rebuild?
He is stuck making this work. Until this runs out and he calls his shots. At that stage in Matthews is gone I see TO making and holding a nest for him.
So after this season Oilers have 3 more kicks at this. Then like the Matrix it begins again.

It would have to be a team like Anaheim that already has a strong #1 goalie, McTavish, Zegras, Terry on the front end and Fowler, Drysdale, and Zellweger on the back end. They’d have to work the free agent market for some solid depth but would have plenty of cap for a couple years. Incredibly unlikely anyone would trade an 18 year old Bedard for a package that includes a 26.5 year old McDavid that would need Oiler stink fumigation.
The Oilers should push for it though, which is why it’s a bad idea for any other team that lands the #1 pick. You’d consider it though for a couple of minutes just due to, one guy you know what he is, and the other while showing high ceiling top 3 NHL player potential there’s still a risk something could go off the rails.
