It's just a matter of getting used to it, and once you do it feels insane to think back on how much money you previously wasted on those clearly inferior disposable razors.

That's a legit concern if you have a medium or aggressive safety razor. I think you can treat the safety razor nearly identical and careless as a multiblade disposable on a Rockwell level 1... but at level 1, it can technically still nick. Especially if you run the razor at a diagonal angle. Disposables have the plastic frame design that help guide prevent this from happening if going at weird diagonal passes. Most safety razors from the side of the blade are wide open. You also have to rinse out the razor more often on mild and you don't really have to do that for disposables because it pushes it in between the blades.
But when you pay more attention and realize you're haphazardly doing 3-4 random passes in the same area with a disposable or mild safety razor, you go with medium. With a little more focus than aimlessly getting it done with a disposable, you can get it done closer with less passes. A good blade combo with safety razor also helps to reduce cuts.
Time wise, it's about the same as disposable. I typically do two passes with the safety razor on medium. One is on par with a disposable. But then two passes WTG + ATG feels like the solid accomplishment it's meant to be and it looks cleaner and feels cleaner and I can't help but feel the difference and look at the difference in the mirror.
To be fair, I still use my electric razor if I want to basically shave with my eyes half closed. Plus if I travel with no check in, I basically have to bring electric.
Thanks to Hanni, I now have a Futur on the way.
