That's what I was thinking as well. Cap hit aside, other teams know what McDavid can offer, getting a lot of personal points not so much team points. And he is damaged product in my eyes, not damaged as per injuries prone but damage as in abandonment of team games. I'm not sure he can be taught the team game at this point in his career. On the other hand, Bedard might not be skating like McDavid, or might not even score like McDavid. But he is a raw jade, which you can carve him into a gem. And you get him that 3 years entry level, team can surround him with a lot more talent with that cap space.
