Do you remember that reception? It was one of the craziest return reactions in sporting history. The guy didn't even make it into warm up without being mercilessly booed, along with a whole playbook of jeers and slogans throughout the game. Gaudreau will be similar to Tkachuk with likely a little more booing during the tribute and a lot more booing when he touches the puck.

Yeah that was wild! My dad's a diehard Islanders fan so it was extra fun. Agreed it won't be anything near as intense as Tavares. Johnny actually did us worse, so it certainly has reason to be (Tavares at least went to his childhood team he always dreamed about playing for. Johnny seemed like he was desperately trying to go ANYWHERE else), but Calgary just isn't that type of market I find, the same hatred energy level isn't there like on the U.S. east coast.
I definitely think Johnny will get it worse than Tkachuk, and deservedly so. But I still think it won't approach anything close to the hostility Tavares felt. But I'll certainly be booing from my living room just off the Red Mile (after enjoying the tribute he'll surely have).
