We’ll the NHL has been around for 100 years . If you are one of the 50 best players you effectively are one of two of the best players for a decade. To me that is close to generational. Matthew’s for example could end with 650 goals . Kane with 1400 +points (he’s only 250 pts behind Crosby for his career and has 3 cups) leaving him as a top 20 point getting in NHL history mostly playing during the dead puck era - he’s currently 48th all time in points and has many seasons left in him

Is Jagr generational ? Forsberg ? Messier ? Ovechkin? Lidstrum

I can buy the argument that the answer is No , and we are reserving generational for a top 10 player of all time. But if you draft a player who will go down as first ballot unanimous HoFer that’s generational to me
