The only comparison I see to Bouwmeester is that both came from Florida and both played an offensive style there where the trailing D-man would get passes on rushes. Both came to the Flames in systems where the D-men aren't used quite as a regularly as pass options, unless the play is already set up in the zone.
Both struggled offensively because of that. Weegar is amazing, he's so sneaky good defensively. I expect his numbers will stay slightly lower in Calgary even when he figures everything out here, but he will be our number or two D-man for the duration of that contract. You don't complain about that $6.25AAV in todays NHL.
