Per Diem is a CBA negotiated right, so that is consistent across every team and part of their employment agreement
The Flames are competing against every other NHL team for a small number of specialized employees . The small things do matter .
Now I have no clue where we ranked on the employment intangibles but having the oldest arena as a start would lead me to believe the facilities are in the bottom of the league , and if the team is looking to save costs elsewhere the combination could certainly leave them at a competitive disadvantage when attracting / retaining talent

I know per diem is a negotiated right, it has been for a long time. The team doesn't need to provide meals for the players who can't even make toast, but they do anyways.
I agree with the facilities being old and outdated, that's why the Flames want a new arena built. I don't understand how Salim can say the team is being cheap though. Pretty much just toss it out there with nothing to back it up. I bet he has very little inside knowledge of the Flames.
