There should be some tougher questions thrown towards an organization that has seen this level of failure in the last two decades.
This organization just saw two franchise players bail on it in one season and the (local) media barely even batted an eye at it. They either wrote it off as American players not wanting to play here, or just moved on from it. Salim bringing a comment about the team (possibly) being cheap when it comes to how it treats its player is something that should be discussed. That stuff matters. The media outside of the market asked the question “what is going on in Calgary?” and Treliving came out firing and defended the market/city - well, if it wasn’t the market/the city - then could it be that the Flames don’t treat their players all that well? Could it be a disconnect with Darryl Sutter? Could it be the horrible prospect pool and general lack of success?

I admittedly haven’t read all of the posts around this closely
But I do see a lot of things listed that don’t include the obvious
- there was a pandemic affecting the last 2 years in terms of cross border travel
- both guys who left were American
Let’s face it, the last couple of years were different and there is no certainty about the next 8 being 100% return to pre pandemic normalcy
Maybe, just maybe, there was more to the decision than just the organization
I don’t know Salim or any agenda. And care less than I know, until such point as he has any insight of merit.
