He's almost certainly doing what's being asked of him. Score and let the third and fourth liners carry the defensive load.

Which is a problem - and that's on him. At 5 on 5, he and Draisaitl are average players, because they play too many minutes, which means they have to cut corners defensively. You can't simply dismiss that fact.
And for some reason, he, and the Oilers, have yet to figure that out.
