The league has blame on this as well for scheduling a game that requires that much travel and by allowing a midnight departure. From the players' perspective, they're losing the night of the 26th from their break either way, so of course, they're going to be okay with leaving a little bit earlier to get into the hotel in St. Louis earlier.
The earliest travel time on the 27th should be 10am local time and the maximum flight time should be 1 hour. If a team needs to travel further than that, they can't play on the 27th.
