Huby was the 3rd best player/most important behind Barkov and Ekblad, and the Panthers thought so highly of him they moved out 3 other assets with him to try and upgrade and bring in a better player - Who many Flames fan don't/didn't think was elite enough to win a cup when he was playing on our team.

And this is the issue - Its not that Huby and Kadri are bad players. It's that Huby should be the 3rd best player on a Stanley Cup contender/favorite and Kadri the 4th.

The Flames are missing an elite, gaming changing center (maybe winger could work) and an elite D, or two elite forwards.

I can buy the argument the Flames D is good enough all round that you don't need the elite leader of the core, but then you need your goalie to be one of those elite players - And to this point Markstrum isn't.

The only chance this team has to be dangerous is for Markstrum to become the leagues most elite goalie during the playoffs (Assuming we get there)

This a good post. My gut says the Flames are just not good enough. We might make the playoffs but I dont believe we have the horses, or enough skill in the line up to do much damage. We can win games with hard work but how do we match teams with elite skill come playoff time?
