Weird. If only there was some way to figure out that playing unselfish defensive hockey leads to winning teams & culture.

It’s a conspiracy!!

Someone must have not wanted this super special information to get into the hands of Edmonton.

If only they knew about the Yzerman hidden obfuscated lesson…. then McDavid could have learned it like Crosby, Sakic, Forsberg, & Ovechkin.

That or just make 1/2 the league chainsmoking alcoholics & win like Gretz!

Oh well, you can’t ruin a player like McDavid like they did to Yakopov… you can just marginalize them. The minutes he plays makes elite defensive focus in hockey almost impossible, & it marginalizes his spectacular offense.

Plus if you actually read Ken Dryden’s book on Scotty Bowman, it wasn’t about Yzerman making a change to reduce offensive focus.

His body was breaking down & getting injured from playing too many hard minutes. It was about refocusing on a team game & playing fewer minutes to make him more effective. He also already had one of the best two way centres in the history of the game to take his spot when he left the ice (Fedorov).

Not only to the Oiler’s not want or think they need a center iceman with Fedorov’s defensive acumen. They either think they have it or wouldn’t give him more ice without McDavid’s blessing.
