Get your yucks in now. After that game against the Canucks, we deserve them. But I’m not too sure I remember a team that won the cup in December. There is still much hockey to be played. Congrats to your flames for their win against the ducks.
First of all, we're not here to talk about the Flames, take a breath and take some time to really understand what this thread is all about.

But I'm going to play you.

The Flames haven't played well this year, and haven't had great chemistry so far. So if the Flames find chemistry, and the talent starts meeting the epectations, the Flames will leave the Oilers so far behind that Lassie will look down that well at the trapped Oilers and go "No amount of scooby snacks will make me save that train wreck of despair and failure."

And yes after all of the hype for the Oilers, and all of the talk of Woodhead being this amazing coach, the Oilers are again having to face reality. That team outside of Conna and Pissy would be hard pressed to make the playoffs in the AHL. Its really that bad, and the sooner Oiler fans realize it, the sooner they accept that, the sooner they can go about their rather sub ordinary lives filling up slurpee cups and sorting their sweat pants collection.

And you're right no team has won a cup in December, but a team that's out of the playoffs at Christmas is hard pressed to get in. The Oilers don't have their fate in their hands, and there's no help coming. Ok I'll correct that.

If the Oilers are willing to trade their razor thin futures, like their first round pick not lottery protected, a middling prospect like Holloway and a bust like Boberg or even maybe trade a one dimensional defenseman like Bouchard, maybe they can bring in some help. But the Oilers cap thanks to a very dim Holland is so bad that they might not be able to bring in that help.

I said for the last few years that if Holland had the balls, he'd trade one of the two wonder twins, he could get out of the cap problem. He could probably fix most of his terrible lineup, and pass a message to the other wonder twin that maybe they need to start playing a team game instead of an individual game that the Oilers might have a chance to succeed.

but as its looking now, last years little playoff run that ended with a crushing by the Avs was more about good fortune and luck then the Oilers actually being a team on the rise.
