They are 100% avoidable. There is no such thing as an unavoidable accident in a vehicle, someone is always at fault whether it’s being purposefully negligent or making a mistake.
I’m not judging anybody outside of pointing out the simple fact that he was going too fast for conditions. Insurance and the law itself judges people in collisions plenty enough for everyone, and neither shrug their shoulders at black ice and say “oh well, you did your best, who could have known??” If you rear end a stopped vehicle because you hit a patch of ice, it sounds like you’re going to be extremely surprised when you’re found at fault and your insurance has to cover the other person’s bill. Hope you find it just as funny
