Is there a possibility for us to trade Markstrom? He has a NMC so would he have to waive it? If this trade happens it would have to be after this season. In an ideal world I would prefer this option but it has obvious cons that will prevent this from happening

Good problem to have... But yes, I see what you're saying.
I actually think they run back markstrom vladar 1 more year. Nothing wrong with Wolf doing 3 full seasons in the AHL. It's quite possible he gets a little taste of NHL in that time frame due to injury.
Then you re-assess. What is vladar's outlook at that point? Future starter or career backup?
What is markstrom who will have 2 years left at that point? An elite goalie who keeps on ticking or is he fading?
Is wolf still the elite prospect he is now? Funny enough, that is the one I'm most confident in.
In my mind, if all 3 have positive outlooks, you move vladar and start The Wolf understudy process.
If Wolf and vladar are positive, but markstrom is fading, you buyout Markstrom. Don't think he's movable in that spot. The buyout is not a disaster... 4 years at 1.67
If vladar looks like more of a backup at that point, you eat his last year in the minors and he can backup for sergeev so we can start getting a look at Wolf.
If everyone sucks, we're probably in a rebuild anyway, so keep them all and suck away.
