Their elite power play for starters. An ability to raise their game when needed. A confidence holland will improve the team with a trade or two, even if it’s not an optimal trade contract wise, but one that will improve the team this year regardless. A young goalie who’s playing well, and a backup who can turn it around and get hot. As stated their D concerns me as it always does, but we fly by the offence and outscore a lot of our defensive mistakes. I think they tighten up as the year goes though. Kane comes back, hopefully he will be somewhat back to form. A good coach, which you probably don’t agree with, but the players respect him and his game plan. And mostly the Connor Mcdavid factor which I think you guys way underplay. Add a Draisaitl Nuge and Hyman, I like our chances.

Oh good god, so if everything goes absolutely perfectly the Oilers will make the finals? I hate to say that, you can say that with every team in the the league. But the
Knock . . . Knock
Who's there
Its reality man.
The calls will be harder to get in the playoffs, so the powerplay might be less of a factor then you think, and usually the teams in the playoffs, pretty much the majority have elite penalty killing.
Ok what else.
What does Holland have to be confident about? He's literally driven your team into cap hell, lost most trades, and has, what's that word I'm looking for . . . oh right, leverage, he has none. He doesn't have a lot of exciting assets that he's going to swing to get the defensive help that he needs unless your willing to trade a big chunk of your future. But oh and
Ding Dong
Who's there
Oh you're from amazon, and your dropping off that package of reality.
Holland is going to massively overpay for help. Why, because skype all set up and ready to go.
What else, a young goalie that's playing well. You'd better hope that he can play 55 games at a high level for a team with an atrocious blueline, and a rita repulsive level bottom 6, and two stars that don't give a shyte about the teams side of the center ice line.
What else? Good coach, not really, meet the new coach, he's the same as the old coach. He can't get the team to adopt a defensive system. He can't convince his top two players to play two way hockey. I could coach the Oilers man, and have the same record that this turd does. Lets see Ok here goes
"Conna - Pissy get out there."
I am a hockey coaching god!!!
And the Conna and Leon factor, its not enough. In the NHL in the 2020's you can't outscore that bad of a blueline.
Oh well, in a few weeks with the Oilers dropping like a stone. Nice effort against the Nucks tonight man by the way. You'll stop posting and putting up and I quote in a squeeky voice.
"If everything goes absolutely perfect or above expectations, the Oilers could make the finals"
Yeah and if I could afford a million dollars worth of plastic surgery, a personal fitness training. Luck on the Stock Market, a complete charm transplant and a Lamborghini, Scarlett Johanson could be my wife.
Accept it, if anything you should be proud.
You can handle this whole Oilers thing one way or another.
When your kid (Oilers) comes home with a subpar report card, you can yell at him about how you expected better from him, and send him to his room without dinner.
Or the right thing
You can glower at the kid while your wife whispers in your ear "Now Frank what do you expect, he does come from your genetic pool and you're kind of stupid for believing in him. And then you smile at your kid (Oilers) and say, that's ok at least you didn't tie your shoes together today, and that's progress.
But back to the Oilers.
Oh wait my phone is ringing let me get that
Hello
Its reality calling.
The Oilers have seriously over achieved this year thanks to the powerplay. You should be grateful that they're still in the playoff race.
But after Christmas when the contenders ramp their games up. The Oilers will fall over a cliff, and then you can start reading about the next hot prospect that the Oilers will draft because he has a youtube video of him bouncing a puck on his nose and orking like a Seal, and that's the type of player that gets the Oilers scouting department and the owners kid all rigid.
