He was a mid pairing defenseman before the Covid season, road a fluke season with a weak Canadian Division and had a out of ordinary shooting percentage to a 9 million per year contract given by a bad GM, and then fell back to his mean or slightly below that.
I'm sorry, he's not going to get much better, he's always had a poor hockey sense without the puck. He's always had pretty poor positioning. Its not a slight overpay, its actually one of the worst hand trying contract in the league, and a laughing at Holland contract. I don't blame him for taking it, his agent was screaming start the car when the offer came through.
Oh and since he's signed that contract, he's stank, he stank last year, he stanks this year.
Oh and the Oilers making the cup finals as you predicted. Oh Bubbie, the Oilers with that blueline, that terrible bottom 6. A poorly prepared coach. Inconsistant goaltending. Having to play Draisaitl and McDavid for a half a game a night.
