Likely algorithm based. Anyone who has spent time talking about the convoy people or debating them or following people who were invested in that whole ordeal probably get exposed to it more on social media.
I've seen pretty much nothing on social media about that stuff since early this year but I don't seek it out and I've never engaged other than on CP and Reddit.
