I think everybody knows a handful of people who went backwards into the deep-end over this stuff (both freedom-lovers and Mr.-Burns-wearing-kleenex-boxes-as-shoes type folks). There's no way that's not absolutely devastating to a marriage if you're not in alignment with it.
I'll respectfully disagree with Yamer and say I'd be surprised if it wasn't a significant factor in divorces over the past couple years and the next few (zero evidence, all gut feeling). Especially once you start factoring in child-safety concerns, because that's just oily rags in a firework factory. I say it as a dad: kids make people insane.
I can see a scenario where those marriages were already pretty bumpy, so you can say it's not just covid. I don't think any divorce happens in a vacuum with one single problem, but this whole mess has been years of pressure on many people. I have to imagine having a disagreeable annoyance for a spouse is a problem. Having them during a stretch of highly stressful years would be next level.
