I think the whole 5-1 to start the year and beginning to find chemistry before everything was changed narrative is wildly overblown.
Flames got the bounces in those first 6 games. They ran into a bunch of struggling teams during that stretch. Kadri was hot. So was Andersson.
Since then, this team is 8-11-6. I just don't buy the idea that everything would have been fine if the lines stayed the same following the 6th game. The Huby-Lindy-Toffoli line has had a ton of games together since then to get things clicking, but haven't really shown that they can generate consistent offense.
Maybe what we're seeing now is the real Flames. Maybe it isn't. Impossible to know what this team really is after what we've seen from these guys over the past 5 games (especially the last 2). Beatable opponents, yet unable to find ways to win.
All hope is not lost, but the situation is getting increasingly urgent. If the team is still not in a playoff spot by the midpoint of the season, a big change or two might be required to shake things up...
