Treleving took a swing for the fences with the the Tkachuk trade & Kadri signing. It was a calculated risk, with a Cup as the potential outcome, but the consequences of a miss? Oof.
How much better would people be feeling if the Flames had an identical record, but had Jesper Bratt, and an expiring Monahan contract in the offseason?
Now we have multiple 30+ year old players signed long term, and look to be back in the 6th - 10th nightmare bubble zone for the next five years. Trying to make a couple moves to make the playoffs with the “chip and a chair” mentality, only to frequently finish 10th, and hope we’re drafting the next Dylan Dube.
