Some observations from the game yesterday:
Kerins: Didn't get much ice time, had good awareness of where to be, noticed some good positioning but needs a little more bulk to win some board battles. His brains will take him far.
Zary: found him to be a little disappointing. Didn't distinguish himself at all. Had a goal on the PP but generated only one notable play at 5 on 5.
Pelletier: this guy has a motor. Skates hard and fast all over the place, he's a little small and can get pushed a bit but fights for every inch. He's noticeable in all the right ways every shift. He's going to be in the NHL but middle six and not the line driver. He reminds me a bit of Blake Coleman where you can slot him in a few spots and he'll just do his job and make his line better.
Petterson: Emilio had some good offensive moments, some good vision and showed more than I expected. He needs to bulk up a bit more but there is potentially a player there.
Kuznetsov: I can now see why he was drafted so high. There a couple times during the game where he started flying carrying the puck through the opposing team. Some work still and doesn't use his size as much as I would like but there is some real potential there.
Poirier: He has some good offensive instincts, a wicked shot but occasionally goes in a little deep and forgets his responsibilities. He's not quite as bad defensively as I feared but a couple of moments where you can see the coach would be annoyed.
